NDT uses seismic refraction profiling in civil engineering projects to profile bedrock and the thickness of overlying soil layers. We use the seismic compressional wave velocity values measured by seismic refraction profiling to calculate moduli (strength) values of subsurface materials and to make general material identification. Seismic refraction profiling uses include evaluation of excavation techniques; identifying sinkholes, landslides and embankment failures; as well as provide critical top of rock and soil information for project designers.
