Tunnels

Nondestructive testing data are used to assess the following liner and behind the liner conditions:

  • Liner Condition and Integreity
  • Behind Liner Conditions
  • Liner Reinforcing Characteristics
  • Soil and Bedrock Moduli values for Tunnel Design
  • Behind Liner Void indentification

Sonic/ultrasonic velocity and resonant period data are used to determine liner concrete strength, thickness and identify areas of voiding, cracking, delamination and deterioration. Radar data identify areas of water concentration at the back of or within the liner, voided and grouted areas as well as an assessment of reinforcing spacing and cover.
